We provide the prevention, cure, or alleviation of disease and injury of animals through our Veterinary Program. We provide professional veterinary care for our animals and also animals within our community. Our veterinarians help by providing expedient medical care so that we may rehome animals as quickly as possible, and the veterinarians also assist in developing appropriate Behavioral Rehabilitation Programs. We do this so that resident animals can enjoy a high quality of life during their shelter stay. Numerous studies have shown that length of stay in a shelter is the single greatest risk factor for illness, and stressed animals do not “show” well on the adoption floor. Therefore, providing both medical and behavioral care is essential to our shelter population’s health.
